A Look Back on Issue 02

Harvesting

After the exciting launch of Trivium Magazine on July 1st, we were blown away by the incredible feedback and support from our readers. Your enthusiasm not only validated our efforts but also ignited our passion to keep going as we embarked on the creation of our next issue.

Now, as we find ourselves in late October, reflecting on the Harvesting issue, we want to share this journey with you. From reading through all of the amazing submissions to the collaborative process of developing a full 80+ page magazine, every step has been an adventure.

So, we invite you to join us as we share some of the highlights, challenges, and moments of inspiration that shaped this autumn issue – all while celebrating the community that makes Trivium Magazine what is is today!

Late Summer Photo Session

As we wrapped up work on the first issue of Trivium Magazine, our team enjoyed some downtime (Rachel went to the beach, Mikaela and Maria escaped to the Irish Countryside, and Emily settled into her new home planting fruit trees and dahlias). During this time, we received some amazing feedback, reflected on all of the good that has come of this journey so far, and had a little photoshoot done!

Friend and contributor of Trivium, Julie Wells,  graciously offered to meet us on a beautiful evening in July to snap some team photos. We had a memorable evening posing on a path with a neighboring cow field, rushing to catch the last golden rays of sun, and sharing many, many laughs with our talented photographer!

Getting Started on Issue 02

What would a magazine be without traditions? We’ve developed quite a few of these over the course of bringing this project to life – early morning work sessions over coffee, finding ways to incorporate inside jokes into each issue, and venturing out on spontaneous adventures to get just the right photo.

Though most of our traditions have formed between our team members, there are two that we’ve enjoyed being able to share with our subscribers – first, our seasonal vision board and, second, the seasonal playlists!

The vision board is by far our most hands-on tradition. We start each issue of the magazine with a well-developed theme, a Pinterest board of inspiration, and a whole lot of tape and glue! Creating these boards not only helps our team pin down what we’re hoping to achieve visually, but they also provide the seasonal photos you see in the banners around the website!

With the magazine in print, we wanted to create something that would accompany our readers on their journey through each page, offering a truly immersive experience and helping them dive into the season with as many senses as possible. So we decided to create a playlist for each issue as the perfect companion while delving into the content!

Pulling it All Together

Throughout the summer, submissions for our Harvesting issue came pouring in; each one bringing its own unique perspective to the season and theme.

From here, we dove into the process of reviewing content and selecting the pieces that would eventually fill the pages you hold today.

September 22nd marked the long-awaited first day of fall. An important date that gave our team an added boost of excitement and anticipation as we entered the final stages of production!

From there, our days were filled with early mornings and late nights, working closely with contributors to polish their pieces and gathering as a team to map out the layout, weaving together ideas that would bring the spirit of the season to life on each page.

While our team was busy with the magazine, we were also invited to join Anna McMahon on The Woman Aesthetic podcast to talk about truth, beauty, and give listeners a sneak peek into the Harvesting theme.

Finally, in late September, after a week of waiting, the magazines arrived from the printer! Rachel and Mikaela met for a quick quality check and, of course, ended up staging an impromptu photoshoot.

Later that week we packaged the issue up in our special autumn fall leaves mailers and sent them out into the world!

As we reflect back on the creation of this issue, we want to extend our thanks to everyone who made the Harvesting issue possible!

To our talented contributors and to our subscribers, your support allows us to keep sharing this magazine with the world, season after season.

Thank you!
